Sadly the tough decision was made last night to cancel Hastings Half Marathon.
We wanted to take a moment this morning to thank team 3D Recruit & our very own Ria, who were all planning to run in support of EFT. They have been training so hard in preparation for today and Ria was even looking forward to running in the rain!
Whilst the race itself has been cancelled, Ria, like so many others, is still going to run 13.1 miles today, what a superstar she is. Ria has shared with us this morning:
"I had wished for a positive outcome for todays race, I had everything crossed that by some miracle, we would be able to come together and run the impressive Hastings Half Marathon route.
It was incredibly disappointing to receive the news that it had been cancelled.
Despite the sterling work of all the organisers, volunteers, supporters, and every agency involved, today was not to be. They have worked tirelessly to make sure that everyone is safe, I have nothing but admiration and respect for all of them. From the bottom of my heart I send a huge thank you to them all for their tremendous efforts.
Despite today's cancelled race, I shall still lace up my trainers, I will fix my race number to my running vest and will run 13.1 miles to mark the Hastings Half and honour all the hard work enjoyment that today should have given us.
Today I was running not only for my personal goals, but also for Education Futures Trust, I work for this inspiring charity. A place that brings hope, determination, knowledge and allows people to thrive and flourish when they didn't believe they could.
So today I will run my own Half Marathon, because even though I can't run the HHM I will find my own way to complete my mission. Thank you everyone who has supported, encouraged and believed in me 💚"
