Level 2 Qualification in Horticulture and Estate Skills

Plumpton College is pleased to be running a City and Guilds land-based course for the adult community of Hastings.  This course enables participants to learn new skills, gain a level 2 qualification and leave a lasting legacy in the development of the Education Futures Trust site.

In conjunction with education Futures Trust we have a site master plan that enables learners to gain real life working experience of developing an environment and transforming it for the benefit for those studying and the general public.

The course is designed to introduce learners to the land-based sector and highlight the impact a role in conservation and management has on our natural environment. A combination of those all important practical skills that support the underpinning theory.

Areas covered as part of the course:

  • Tree planting

  • Making woven hazel fence panels

  • Caring for planted areas

  • Grounds preparation techniques for sowing and planting

  • Carrying out site surveys

  • Producing planting plans

This 12 week course runs on Thursdays throughout term time and there are opportunities to start the course at different times throughout the year.  On completion of the course, students will gain a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Horticulture.
